The Union City BART station that I commuted to & from for 10 years. It was a life-saver with the traffic, but those same buses may have contributed to my sciatica attack, that kept me out of work for over a month! (Sue & I were returning our at&t router to the UPS store across the street, before heading out, a little while later.)
How to sum up 16 years (minus 11 weeks)? I won't even try.
I took this after Sue looped around the block. We remembered the wind chimes and Uta's wooden "bonkers" in the backyard. One of the bonkers had apparently fallen off, so it's one short, and doesn't bonk much anymore. Perhaps symbolic. Still a memory. They had added a bunch of serious speed bumps. Sue didn't see the first one, and our Hyundai Elantra nearly bottom out! Fortunately, no damage to anything, including my guitars on the backseat. Our car was packed to the gills. I didn't count the speed bumps. There must have been 6-8 of them — perhaps to discourage the motorcyclists, or at least really slow them down?
During my planning, I had somehow miscalculated. I thought Los Baños would be an hour from Fremont, for our first night en route to Tucson. Well....
OK, right now (at 2:30pm on a Friday 12 weeks later), for the route over the Altamonte, Google Maps says it would take 2 hours and 18 minutes (103 miles). And that included only 40% of the red traffic area that I saw back then.
We had left Fremont about 6:30pm, and arrived at the TraveLodge about 8:15pm. Yes, synchronicities are a good thing!
